If you’ve always harboured dreams of living in a windmill, the gorgeous Llancayo Windmill is what you’ve been waiting for.  This impressive structure stands proud beside a wheat field in beautiful Monmouthshire, and is all you need to unleash your inner Windy Miller or Jonathan Creek!

Llancayo Windmill offers luxurious self-catering accommodation for 12 people across five floors.  Comprising the windmill’s tower as well as an adjacent two-storey extension, it’s the ideal place for a special gathering of friends or family.  What’s more, its heavenly location in the heart of the Welsh countryside makes for a rural retreat to remember.

Dating back to 1813, this former mill was in full operation until 1830, when the building was tragically struck by fire.  From then on, it stood in ruin, until the current owners rescued it in 2006.  After three years of painstaking renovation, Llancayo Windmill became the gorgeous holiday home it is today, boasting wooden floors, light and airy décor, and more than enough space to relax in and enjoy.

As you enter the ground floor, you’ll find the fully fitted kitchen – a homely space complete with wooden cabinets, a range cooker and even an adorable window seat!  You’ll also find the first of Llancayo Windmill’s six bedrooms – a comfortable twin room with its own en-suite shower room.

Leading through the arched entrance into the tower, you’ll find the impressive dining room.  Beautifully finished with a stone floor, half-panelled walls and a cartwheel light fitting overhead, it’s a wonderful place to enjoy long meals around the large dining table.

A gorgeous sweeping staircase along the curved wall takes you to the first floor of the tower.  Here, the comfortable sitting room awaits, with tempting leather sofas surrounding a coffee table and television.  From here, you can access the balcony, which gives unbeatable views across the stunning Monmouthshire countryside.

Heading on up, you’ll find a double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the second floor of the tower, and the same again on the third floor.  The other three bedrooms can be found on the first floor of the extension – a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a twin room and double room that both share a large family bathroom.  The fourth floor of the tower is reserved for the cosy snug.
