Historic former hunting lodge in Shropshire's Weston Park - a romantic retreat for two.

  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

For a romantic retreat they’ll never forget, whisk them away to the Knoll Tower!  With gorgeous architecture, a private location, and a fairy-tale turret, this historic hideaway is nestled in Shropshire’s Weston Park – and is waiting just for you.

The Knoll Tower was built around 1865 as a hunting lodge for the third Earl of Bradford.  In 2002, it underwent loving and very sympathetic restoration, so that, today, it offers luxurious, self-catering accommodation for two, set over three floors.

Many of the building’s original features are still intact, including arched doorways with solid, wooden doors and exposed, stone walls. However, modern touches of luxury bring the Knoll Tower into the 21st Century for a wonderfully comfortable stay you won’t want to end.

As you enter the Knoll Tower’s glazed entrance hall, you are met with a door on each side, taking you through to each of the building’s two halves.  Leading through to the right, you’ll find the fully equipped kitchen with all modern conveniences (including laundry facilities), tastefully finished with soft country colours and a terracotta-tiled floor.  You’ll also find the light and airy bathroom, complete with a bath and shower overhead.

Step through the door on the left of the entrance hall, and you’ll find yourself in an intimate dining room.  This gorgeous space maintains the Knoll Tower’s historic feel, with long drapes, portraits on the wall and an original fireplace.  The dining table seats four comfortably, in case you have guests for dinner.

As you climb the stairs to the first floor, you’ll come to the gorgeous bedroom and its inviting double bed.  Romantic drapes hang overhead for that ultimate fairy-tale feel, helping you feel like royalty as you drift off at night.

The cosy lounge is found on the top floor, making the most of breath-taking, panoramic views over the parkland, designed by none other than Capability Brown himself.  Spy the 17th Century stately home in the distance as well as the exquisite Temple of Diana, and, beyond, the marvellous Shropshire Hills.  If you want to make a little more of those fabulous views, the lounge opens out to a decked roof terrace – perfect for catching sunrises, sunsets and everything in between.
