Quirky retro holiday flat in St Mildred's Bay, Westgate-on-Sea, offering stunning sea views.
Sun, sea and a super ‘60s vibe! That's what awaits you at The Lookout - a cute and cosy holiday flat looking out across beautiful St Mildred's Bay, just two miles along the prom from Margate.
Only recently renovated, a great deal of love and care has gone into every detail of The Lookout, creating both a retro feel and a warm welcome for guests. Beautiful décor, quirky retro touches and a seaside vibe throughout make this a cosy and memorable place to stay, made even more special by the stunning views out across sandy St Mildred's Bay and the sea beyond.
The Lookout sleeps four between a bedroom and a sofa-bed in the living room, making this an ideal stopping place for a couple or small family. Based in Westgate-on-Sea, a town that bustles with sun-seekers in the summer months, guests are perfectly placed for exploring this popular part of Kent, with easy access to Herne Bay and the Viking Coastal Trail.
The main living areas of The Lookout offer bright, cheery décor and fantastically original touches. The fully equipped kitchen, with its white subway tiles and pale blue walls, is made all the more special by retro pieces that include the old-style radio and original doctors' cabinets on the wall. Thanks to the seaside theme and the sunshine spilling through the window, even the most bleary-eyed will manage a smile as they make their morning tea!
Next door, the living area continues the retro vibe with comfortable mid-century furniture, including two fantastic swivel armchairs. Light fittings exuding originality, retro boat print wallpaper and vibrant furnishings combine to create a quirky yet inviting living space. The sofa doubles up as a sofa bed, sleeping two people comfortably, and the highlight has to be the cute mini-record player - every home should have one of these!
The bedroom has been beautifully decorated to create a bright, beachy feel, complete with a lighthouse-print blind. With twin beds that can be configured to offer a large double bed, this room is perfect for both couples and friends. The bathroom, also finished in stunning white subway tiles, provides a bath with a shower overhead and all the warm, fluffy towels you'll need for your stay.
So, what to do with your days? Well, with The Lookout only a stone's throw from St Mildred's Bay, you must take a paddle or swim in the shallow, calm sea, or at least build some sandcastles if you're not ready to get your feet wet! Take a stroll around Westgate-on-Sea for its small shops and cafés, and why not take in a movie at the independent Carlton Cinema?
A visit to trendy Margate is a must and, only two miles away, can be reached easily by car or on foot. Take a browse around the various independent shops with vintage items galore, before stopping at one of the many good cafés or restaurants. For a spot of culture, take a trip around the Turner Contemporary, and to complete your retro stay, don't forget to kick up your heels at Dreamland!
Of course, walkers can take in the Viking Coastal Trail during their stay, and being so ideally located on the Chatham Main Line, you can easily explore the delights of Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Whitstable by rail.
Whatever you choose to do during your stay, The Lookout offers that seaside vibe to get you in the mood, alongside beautiful views of this wonderful coastline and quirky retro treats to make your trip even more memorable.
