The Sett - award-winning design and picturesque natural living both inside and out, on the serenely beautiful Isle of Wight.

Award-winning London-based architects Dow Jones are renowned for creating intricately well-crafted architecture that's respectful of its surroundings, whilst enhancing the beauty of the space with an innovative and contemporary style.

The moment you enter The Sett, you are surrounded by architectural dynamics at play with the space providing an exquisite family home-from-home that sleeps up to eight people in four bedrooms.  As a 2015 RIBA award winner, The Sett is infused throughout with a loving homage to the creative design, featuring specially commissioned furnishings for you to enjoy as you study the intricacies of its finely crafted interiors, looking out across the stunning vista of nature's own beauty.

Your setting is Totland Bay, a truly picturesque sandy cove with clear water ideal for swimming and sports, situated on the scenic Isle of Wight.  The Sett itself is situated in a stunning orchard just ten minutes from the beach, created from black timber and glass that blend beautifully in with its tree-studded surroundings.

The Sett is designed to perfectly capture the beauty of the outdoors from the inside, with its vast picture windows and glazed walls ideally positioned to welcome in floods of natural light, and breathtaking woodland views for you to enjoy all around.  Hand-trowelled concrete floors create a rustic setting that's enhanced by Douglas Fir wood-created kitchen, doors, flooring and furnishings, while a brick chimney hearth at its centre adds to The Sett's cosy homely feel.

The spacious and welcoming dining room has seating for ten people, with an additional breakfast table hosting another four, perfect for chatty group get-togethers! You'll find two designer sofas and an armchair in the living room, ideally placed for you to cosy up and marvel at the views both inside and out.  Not that the living room is the only place for you to relax...upstairs is a second living space featuring a beautiful vintage sofa, with a bespoke designed desk and bench.

For those who want to contemplate their latest creative masterpiece over a steaming mug of coffee or a heady glass of wine, there's also a private study.  The kids will never get bored either, with an endless selection of books, games and toys for them to discover and enjoy.

When it's time to turn in, claim your bedroom from four stunning sleeping areas.  Upstairs you'll discover three rooms designed for deep, invigorating sleep, with a master bedroom featuring a super king-sized bed and its own ensuite, and two twin rooms with access to the luxurious family bathroom.

For those who don't like stairs, or who need access to a ground floor sleeping area, the fourth bedroom features fresh garden views from floor-to-ceiling windows, with a king-sized bed and access to a spacious walk-in shower, plus the garden itself.  And finally, if sleeping inside isn't your thing, you'll even find a hammock for a relaxing night under the stars!

During your stay, you may well find that you fall headlong in love with the outdoor life, with all the fresh al-fresco space The Sett has to offer you.  A veranda envelopes the home, featuring double doors that lead out to an enormous garden where there's plenty of room - not to mention stylish vintage furniture - for relaxing and dining long into the night.  You'll find a fire pit for your own sizzling barbecues, a concrete & wood pergola which has a uniquely designed dining table to seat 8, two wooden sun  loungers, and an assortment of other comfy outdoor chairs. The 12ft sunken trampoline will be a big hit with the kids (and big kids!), and there are areas for badminton and pro-ball tennis.  Why not challenge your group to a few friendly matches?

Further afield, The Sett is just a short walk away from the Totland Bay beach front, ideal for windswept bayside picnics, hiking and adventurous water sports for the thrill-seekers in your group. The beaches of Colwell and Tennyson Down are just a little further away, along areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you'll find the historic harbour town of Yarmouth is just a few minutes away by car.  There are also plenty of amenities, local shopping havens offering fresh produce, and award-winning bars and restaurants nearby.

So for a lovingly designed, award-winning home-from-home that you'll want to call your home for a long time after, come and make your way to The Sett.

Tried and tested

"It was fascinating to stay in a house so recently designed and so obviously a home, with a really good collection of books. We were given lots of information beforehand by Sarah about the house, surroundings and general attractions nearby. Our four year old granddaughter loved the trampoline, the sprinkler and the child friendly chairs which helped her spend much of her time drawing, constructing etc at a table in the kitchen area. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. Enjoyed the dinosaur walk at the nearby Brook Bay, evenings at Totland Bay, walks on heather towards Alum Bay, jousting at Carisbrooke Castle. A very good place for a three generation family holiday"
