Live a life of luxury at the glorious Sea Gem – a treasure to be discovered at popular Camber Sands.  This magnificent, architect-designed beach house was recently featured on Channel 4’s Extraordinary Escapes and combines exquisite design with unbeatable views for a heavenly stay to remember.

With accommodation for up to eight people, Sea Gem is the perfect location for a special reunion of family or friends.  The first truly contemporary design on Camber’s shoreline, it comes as no surprise that Sea Gem has won numerous awards.  It has even appeared twice on The Times’ list of ‘Britain’s 20 Best Beach Houses’ – giving a small hint of the fantastic experience that awaits you.

As you arrive, there’s no mistaking Sea Gem.  Modern, clean lines, natural limestone, and expanses of glass combine to create a magnificent, 21st century home that complements the coastal surroundings.  Designed by James Robson and his team at HazleMcCormackYoung, and with incredible interiors by Caroline Robinson, everything about Sea Gem is as special as can be.

Stepping over the threshold, you’re treated to your first glimpse of those stunning views as you look down the hallway into the games room beyond.  Here, a gorgeous set of bi-fold sliding doors open out to the first of your outdoor terraces – a perfect place to relax back with a glass in hand, overlooking the golden sands and sea beyond.

It’s also the ideal spot from which to admire the award-winning garden.  Designed by Jo Thompson, who won a Gold Medal at Chelsea in 2010, this peaceful haven is designed with the surroundings in mind – with beachside plants, golden gravel, and a fire-pit encircled by a sunken seating area.  You may even recognise this gorgeous garden from the front cover of the RHS’ Garden magazine!

Back inside your gorgeous home-from-home, you’ll find three of Sea Gem’s four bedrooms (which include 2 super king, 1 king and one twin room) on the ground floor.  Each one is decorated in contemporary and nautical themes.  What’s more, they all come with their own stunning bathrooms.  Two of the rooms are south-facing, with one featuring sliding doors to its own terrace overlooking the sands, while the third looks out over fields.

The bespoke spiral staircase takes you to the first floor, where the spacious, open-plan living area awaits.  Watch the sun set from the inviting seating area, where floor-to-ceiling glazing maximises those beautiful beach views.  On chillier days, keep toasty around the Bodorf and Gonay contemporary log-burning stove – just one of the stunning pieces in this fantastic home.

More information

The state-of-the-art kitchen features Miele appliances and an American-style fridge-freezer, while the minimalist dining area offers comfy seating for eight people to enjoy long meals into the evening.  Sliding doors open out to the v-shaped first floor terrace, complete with outdoor seating and a spiral staircase to the terrace below.

The Master bedroom is also found on the first floor, and is simply stunning in its simplicity.  Complete with a dressing room and its own bathroom, this luxurious room lets you indulge in style.  For added bliss, gaze across the sands to the horizon from your over-sized bathtub!

Spend your days on the golden sands, which have featured in films from The Invisible Woman to Dunkirk, and even played host to a Dalek invasion in Dr.Who!  Luckily, it’s tourists who visit Camber more regularly for its sand dunes and lapping tides.  Your own private boardwalk makes beach access easy, and you even have your own outdoor shower to rinse your sandy toes!

Historic Rye is just a 10-minute drive for charming independent shops, cafes and restaurants, while popular Hastings is about 40 minutes away.  You’re also well placed for High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Beauty, where you can explore a myriad of footpaths that weave throughout the area.

However, if you simply spend your stay at Sea Gem, looking out across spectacular scenery from your private terraces or stunning living area, nobody could blame you.  Hidden treasures don’t come much better than this.
