Two beautiful self-catering apartments, blending original art deco features with modern luxury, in Penzance, Cornwall.

In amongst a terrace of charming cottages on the Penzance seafront, you'll find a spectacular art deco cottage. Renovated and restored with love and care, this cottage is now home to Captain's Deck and Captain's Lookout - two stylishly cosy self-catering apartments in this popular Cornish destination.

With original features ranging from wooden floors and cast iron radiators to art deco bathrooms, both apartments allow guests to take a step back to the glamour of the ‘20s and ‘30s, while also enjoying modern luxuries for a comfortable stay.

The additional flexibility of renting each apartment separately or together makes Captain's Deck and Captain's Lookout ideal for groups of two to six people.  What's more, the cottage is ideally positioned for exploring Penzance and the beauty of West Cornwall all year round.

Captain's Deck

Located on the ground floor, Captain's Deck provides spacious accommodation for two.  As you enter the beautifully finished lounge, you'll be struck by the wonderful art deco touches that give this apartment so much character - the large picture window facing the promenade, the wooden floors and the stunning stone fire place (great for a log fire in winter!).  Stained glass mirrors and lighting shades add that extra touch, and don't forget to check out the black and white photos that adorn the walls, marking moments both past and present.

Leading through, you'll come to the fully-equipped kitchen-diner which has been styled in classic monochrome.  Art deco-style cupboards, the black and white-chequered floor and the original Belfast sink make self-catering a pleasure.

For outdoor dining, you're spoiled for choice between the front patio, complete with a small table and chairs, as well as a courtyard garden to the rear, where you can enjoy a BBQ surrounded by palm trees and fragrant blooms.  There is also space for storing surfboards or bikes, which may come in useful depending on how you choose to spend your days!

The double bedroom is light and cosy, with a window overlooking the rear courtyard, while the bathroom - with bath and walk-in shower - retains the original art deco style with stunning black and white flooring.

Captain's Lookout

The larger of the apartments, Captain's Lookout sleeps up to four and offers spectacular panoramic views out across Mounts Bay and its historic Jubilee bathing pool.  Spanning the upper two levels of the cottage, it really does have the ‘wow' factor!

On the first floor you'll find a twin room and a master suite, complete with a king-size bed, a roll-top bath, and amazing views across the bay.  An original art deco bathroom, offering a bath and separate walk-in shower is also found on this floor.

Upstairs, the large, open-plan living area provides a comfortable space to relax and enjoy those beautiful sea views.  Cook up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen before watching the sun go down at the large dining table.  Or on warmer days, head out on to the amazing balcony - complete with BBQ and dining area - and enjoy a bottle or two while looking out to St Michael's Mount and Lizard Point.

Captain's Lookout also offers a small courtyard garden, large enough to dry clothes or store bikes and boards, as well as the front patio, where you can enjoy all-day sun and glimpses of the sea as you sit back and watch the world go by.

Whether you stay in one or both apartments, you'll find yourself ideally situated for the beach as well as the historic town centre - a lively place bustling with shops, restaurants and entertainment.  Mounts Bay has been described as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, and visits to Newlyn, Mousehole and Marazion come highly recommended.  And as you're only 10 miles from Land's End, make sure you visit the UK's most westerly point to marvel at the endless Atlantic Ocean beyond.

So whether you're visiting Penzance for a couple's getaway or a larger family gathering, Captain's Deck and Captain's Lookout offer the flexibility and art deco uniqueness for a holiday in style!
