Eco-friendly, luxurious, and with breath-taking views across stunning landscape, these unique homes are waiting for you to discover.

If you’re not quite on top of your Scottish history, a broch is an Iron Age roundhouse built into a hilly landscape, and the remnants of many can be found around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.  The Brochs of Coigach have been modelled around this ancient design, while featuring 21st-century comforts for contemporary luxury.  And set in this unspoiled peninsula, you can still enjoy the same landscape our ancestors experienced over 2000 years ago!

The Brochs are named after two brothers who were allegedly the first settlers in Coigach – Gille Buidhe and Scài – and both sleep  two people  Each can be hired separately or together, making them the ideal couple’s retreat.

Set into the hillside and topped with turf, each Broch is built almost entirely from recycled materials.  Don’t be surprised if you spot the odd barnacle on the external timber; each piece comes from a dilapidated Victorian pier which fell into the sea!  Every stone has come from broken-down walls and buildings from the owners’ and neighbours’ land (no mean feat when the Brochs are up to four metres high in places!).  Finally, the window frames are entirely made from reclaimed pitch pine from the floorboards of a 19th-century warehouse in Glasgow.

You won’t believe the size of each Broch inside, especially in contrast to their unobtrusive exteriors.  Each one possesses stunning contemporary interior design; light, airy, spacious – yet incredibly cosy – they’re the perfect place to embrace some Scottish-themed hygge all year round.  Relax back on oversized cushions, pour yourself a drink, and gaze out through the panoramic windows towards the majestic An Teallach.

Gille Buidhe’s Broch is incredibly spacious, boasting a double comfortable bedroom and two sitting rooms.  The main living area is immense in scale, and incorporates everything you need for your cosy retreat, including a modern wood-burner, a fully fitted kitchen and a dining area.  Scài’s Broch offers the same level of luxury on a slightly smaller scale and, with one double bedroom, it’s the perfect bolthole for a romantic getaway.

Both Brochs also feature a hidden surprise in their contemporary bathrooms: a luxurious sauna!  Ideal for relaxing any aches and pains after a day spent in the hills, there’s no better way to unwind.  You’ll also find stunning contemporary art adorning the walls throughout each Broch, created by some of Scotland’s leading modern artists – just one more element that makes the Brochs of Coigach so unique.
